Cardmaking and crafts

My main craft love is cardmaking however there will be bits and bobs scattered around that are non-cardmaking, maybe a bit of baking, embroidery, knitting - whatever takes my fancy on the day

Hubbies christmas card from playing with my new cameo

Just before Christmas my hubs bought me a cameo so of course I had to play with it lots for my christmas cards, the only problem was that I spent that long playing my cards seemed to take forever :)

When I made my hubs card I used a mo manning image, my spectrum noirs and promarkers and some pearlescent card and mirror card from cupcake crafting.

The picture isnt really doing the card credit as the colours are lovely but it hasnt pictured particularly well (as I cant have the flash on due to the mirror card and its pretty dark and gloomy here).

I am entering this in Mo Manning's current blog challenge for her favourite card challenge over at Digital pencil too.

Thanks for looking.

Don't be square challenge

Hiya, well I'm back again for another challenge (yes I know it's been a long time but Ive got no excuse).

This is a card I've done for my great niece using my new silhouette cameo and a lovely Mo image.  I cut my two shapes for the card base and made a perforated line for my fold and glued together and then created a circle and welded the letters to it and cut from glitter card.  It's my first time doing it and with hindsight I would have had the letters overlapping the circle a bit more but I'm just being picky.

I printed the image and then traced and offset it to give me a small border and let the machine do the work.  All I had to do was colour and glue and then struggle tying a bow (which probably took longer than the cutting).

I'm entering this into the don't be square  challenge over at Mo's Digital pencil Too.

I hope you like it, bye for now

A blog challenge over on D'Arcys diaries

I recently saw a challenge over on D'Arcys diaries, it is challenge number 10 and is a monochrome challenge.

I have used an image that came on the cd that was free with this month's issue of Creative Cardmaking, I'm really impressed with the cd as there are loads of fab elements and images on it, it is well worth the cost of the magazine.  If you want to spend time embellishing and 'giving it large' there is loads to use or you can make a simple quick card if needed as there are also coloured images on there.

To make this card I have printed the image onto white card and coloured using promarkers and spectrum noirs and then distressed around the edges to take the 'whiteness' away.

I have used a pearlescent brown card as the base and also to cut a frame using a c'art die and my trusty cuttlebug.  I then used a piece of white paper stamped with some circle stamps using a pearlescent chocolate inkpad and coloured the entire sheet using distress ink, I then sprayed it with a gold mica spray to give it a bit of interest and then used a brown fineliner for faux stitching around the edge.  I used glitter gems of a variety of sizes  to fill in circles on the stamped backgrounds.

I hope you like it.

Thanks for looking, any comments are much appreciated. :)

Inspiration from Papercrafting Journey

This is a card I came up with for the http://paper-craftingjourney.blogspot.co.uk/ blog challenge.

It was using a picturefor inspiration and this is what I came up with.

I think they are woodware stamps and I coloured them using promarkers and spectrum noirs.

Thanks for looking.

Mom's birthday card

It's my mom's birthday  next week and she's told me about a website she had found called D'arcy's Diaries and said how much she loved their images.  So I thought I'd have a look  for some inspiration for her birthday.  THE STAMPS ARE SOOOOO GORGEOUS!

I've used one of their images on her birthday card and plan to also decorate a gift bag for her pressie.

I have decided to enter the card into some challenges, the only glitch is that I have had to tell her not to look at my blog or at any challenge entries, luckily shes being a good sport :)

The papers are some that I had free with a magazine at some point - they are hot off teh press papers and are called 'soft nostalgia'.

The flowers are made using a memory box die and the centre is using a 'cherish' stamp that I bought in a small set (I think they were from Hobbycraft).  The image is colourd using promarkers and spectrum noirs.

I'm entering this into the following challenges:

D'Arcy's diaries - flower power (3 or more flowers)
Freshly made sketches
Cutie pie challenge - favourite cute stamp

Try Something New and Anything goes Challenges

This is my big sister's birthday card.  It was her birthday on Monday so it's safe to post pictures of it now.

I used a digital candyfloss image from Mo's Digital Pencil that I hadn't used before and coloured the image using using my new spectrum noir alchol pens from Crafters Companion and my some of my old trusty promarkers.  Its the first time Ive used my spectrum noirs and I've goto admit I'm really impressed with them, I've found them much easier to blend than my promarkers.  I think I can feel a need for some more colours :)

The papers I've used are from a fizzy moon paper set and I used the same papers to make the flowers to make the easel stand up.  The border in the middle is using one of my Mariane dies.  Pat said she liked it and hopefully you will agree with her.

I'm entring this into the DP2 Challenge for Try Someting New and also Paper crafting Journey's anything goes challenge.

Happy birthday Lisa

It's my niece's 22nd birthday on Tuesday so I thought I'd double up making her birthday card with a couple of challenges.  I have created an aperture card using my cuttlebug and stamped some flowers and a message on the inside.  The border is created using a docrafts border punch and adding some ribbon and gems.  I also die cut a mariane die in both black and white to give it 2 layers and used black stickles glue to highlight the body and the centres of the flowers on the inside.

I am entering this card into the cas-ualfridays challenge which is black and white (clean and simple) and also in the mymumscraftshopchallenges which is for favourite colour combos.

Thanks for looking.

Anniversary card for Hubs

It was my Hubs and I's anniversary of meeting earlier this month - 17 years.  I can't believe it!

To celebrate this I made him this card using a free stamp from this month's CraftStamper magazine.  I had been watching Sheena Douglas just before and decided to take inspiration from her use of h20s.  I made the background using my h20s and watercolouring them and used distress inks to shade around the edges and then used te lighter distess ink and a folourish stamp togive some background ineret.  I then triple embossed the heart in purple (unfortunaely I lost some of the definiton when I watercoloured, but I restamped using distress ink to give put the definition back in).  To finish it off I stamped my sentiment onto velum and wrapped it around the card and added some gems.  i then matted it all onto some white card that i had coloured the edges of using a matching promarker.

He loved it

I thought I'd enter this in the WOW embossing powder January challenge which is based on love and also on simplycreatetoo challenge which has a theme of love is all around.

Thanks for looking x
